Research Proposal Cover Letter(s)

You'll need to include two cover letters with your research proposal: one, introducing your proposal to your audience (like this, or this), and two, a letter to me answering the following questions:
  1. To whom are you proposing this research? Why did you choose this organization?
  2. What decisions did you make (structural or otherwise) based on your genre, purpose, or audience? Why did you make these decisions?
  3. What do you currently see as the strengths and weaknesses of this draft? If you had three more weeks to work on your proposal, what would you change?
  4. What kind of response from me would be most helpful at this point, keeping in mind that I won't be grading this until it becomes part of your portfolio? Be specific.
Also, let me know how your group workshop on Friday went. What kind of feedback did you give each other? How might you make the workshop "work" better next time?

If the organization you are writing to has a specific cover letter form, is it better to use that? thanks-

Yes, Brian. That's why I'm not requiring a specific format. Thanks for bringing that up.

Do these cover letters have to be brought in along with the draft research propasal for friday? Or are we writing them in class Wednesday (10/8) as it says in the research proposal rubric?

Good question.

We're not writing them in class Wed. anymore, since we're doing conferences instead. But you don't need to write the cover letters until next week. Just make sure you have them with the final draft.

Either one is fine, Taylor.
